Statement to International Community on Cameroun’s Abductions and Detentions
PR-PIGFRA 10/03/2023
10th March 2023
The Interim Government Denounces and Vehemently Condemns the Recurring Targeted Arbitrary Inculpation, Illegal Abduction and Torture of Civilians in Southern Cameroons Ambazonia by French Cameroun Barbaric Occupational Military.
The Interim Government (IG) wishes to bring to the attention of the international community and all partners seeking to intervene in the war in Southern Cameroons/Ambazonia the reports received of recent illegal abductions of over twenty-five (25) Ambazonian civilians, mainly women and girls in Bali Nyonga in Mezam county on the 8th of March 2023; and over forty (40) youths in Matoh in Meme county on the 2nd of March 2023 by the occupational military of La République du Cameroun (LRC).
While the rest of the world engaged celebrating International Women’s Day 2023 with a focus on recognising the achievements of women and seeking to address gender inequity, nonagenarian dictator Biya’s barbaric regime instead commits monstrosities against vulnerable women in Southern Cameroons/Ambazonia. One of the elderly women was abducted on her way to church for her regular morning prayers, her Bible denigrated and thrown away.
The abduction, detention, persecution and killing of Ambazonians by the occupational forces of neighbouring LRC is on the surge as the powers that be remain silent in the face of these barbaric acts against the people of Ambazonia/Southern Cameroons. La République du Cameroun persistently uses rape, among other crimes, as weapon of war with impunity. Ambazonian women and youths are being made easy targets as recent events in Bali Nyonga and Matoh show.
The falling and failing regime of Dictator Paul Biya believes it’s a change of strategy by merely upping her crime against humanity on our women and other vulnerable citizens of Ambazonia, as it becomes conspicuously clear to the failed banana republic of Cameroun that they cannot win the war Biya declared on Ambazonians over 6 years ago.
In the year 2019, the mother, sister, and wife of the Great Field Marshall the King of Ambazonia (FMA) were abducted tortured and detained against their will by La République du Cameroun military. Followed suit, the world watched unperturbed as John Ewome of La République du Cameroun military, commonly known as Moja Moja, led a few other La République du Cameroun military personnel to abduct and maltreat a pregnant Ambazonian woman, a former girlfriend of Ambazonia’s Field Marshal No Pity by name Antoinette Kongso. Ms. Kongso was forced to spend the rest of her final trimester and her baby was born in a jail cell in gross inhumane conditions.
Today, the International Community must not sit quietly upon recent abduction and illegal detention by the occupying forces of LRC, of Ambazonian women, among whom is an eighty-five(85)-year old Ma Florence, pregnant women like Ms. Emilia Andin, a nursing mother of two like Ms. Mimbo Crister and other women like mother of three(3) young children, Ms. Nahjella Leona, mother of four(4) young children, Ms. Muga Maristella Bidsona, Ms. Nembo C. Mayih, etc., all these victims are currently on the premises of a primary school in Bali Nyonga, in Mezam turned detention centre.
We are equally informing the international community that LRC has not accounted for the over forty youths [see names attached in Appendix 1] abducted on the 2nd of March 2023 in Matoh, Meme County by their same barbaric occupational military.
As per the stipulations of the articles of the 4th Geneva Convention on the protection of civilians in areas of armed conflict, “civilians are to be protected from murder, torture, or brutality and from discrimination on the basis of race, nationality, religion or political opinion”. LRC is, therefore, reminded and educated to the effect that civilians cannot be inculpated because of their social or family relationship in the context of the on-going armed conflict between Ambazonia and LRC.
The people of the Federal Republic of Ambazonians will not sit quietly and watch fellow citizens, especially our vulnerable civilians (women, children, elderly and sick) suffer this criminality as the world looks the other way. We the people of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia demand the immediate and unconditional release of all Ambazonians abducted in contravention of the aforementioned 4th Geneva Convention, as well as all other Ambazonians languishing unjustly in prison cells in both Ambazonia and neighbouring La République du Cameroun.
Dictator Biya’s regime cannot be allowed to invade and continue to commit genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity with impunity on Ambazonian citizens. Failure to intervene by all the international institutions charged with the responsibility to act to protect, equates to by-standing and callous complicity to LRC’s prolonged despicable human rights violations, which belies the “never again” and the United Nations’ R2P principle.
Signed this day Friday 10th March 2023
Mrs. Marianta Njomia
President of the IG of the Federal Republic of Ambazonia.
